The controversy intensified after a so-called guess paper reportedly matched 120 questions from the examination, leading to the cancellation of the exam on May 12. The matter triggered a Central Bureau of Investigation probe, along with arrests of National Testing Agency insiders in connection with the alleged irregularities.
Tensions escalated on July 20 when a protest march towards Parliament resulted in clashes between demonstrators and police. More than 90 protesters were reported injured during the incident, while police stated that 118 officers were also injured and several vehicles were damaged.
The ongoing movement has gained further attention with celebrities, including Huma Qureshi, extending support to the protesting students and young people. The protests have been intensified by concerns surrounding more than 20 suicides reportedly linked to examination failures.
As demonstrations continue, several Metro stations have been closed due to security concerns. Meanwhile, hunger striker Sonam Wangchuk has continued his protest from a hospital, adding further focus to the growing campaign.
